Army stumbles in a home loss to Rutgers, 27-17.
The Black Knight offense could gain no ground, gaining just over 100 YDS passing and rushing for a total of just 213 YDS. Analysts wonder if OC Sal Clevenger didn't over-think the game planning as Myers threw the ball uncharacteristically often(9/27 105 YDS 1 TD 3 INT.) Two of those picks game in the 4th, one in the endzone! Mackenzie did well enough(15 CAR 79 YDS 1 TD), which begs the question why Pace and Wilburn only had 8 CAR between the two.
All that aside, Army's WRs were overmatched, with 3 INT and 9 PD for the Rutger secondary. Army was held to 0/13 on 3rd DWN. The Black Knight defense did all it could to withstand the lack of offense. Rutger SR QB William Figueroa was picked twice and sacked 8 times. 3rd DWN% wasn't much better at 3/14. Young LBs Williams and Bonner led tacklers with 8 apiece. FR CBs McCord and Vogt had INTs. #23 Army(7-2) travels to Buffalo(3-6) next week.
Army gains their first 3 commits this week, all 3. Of note, 'workout fanatic' RB Arthur Shaw(6'0" 199 LBS, Stuyvesant HS-NY.)
